Success at the PEI Screenwriter’s Bootcamp

For the sixth consecutive year, writers from Atlantic Canada gathered in Charlottetown for a week of mentoring in the craft of screenwriting. Eighteen writers worked with three mentors: Tom Shoebridge, Jill Golick, and Diane Barnes, developing projects for features, television, and the web.

One of the highlights this year was the pitch session delivered to the group by Marguerite Pigott, Head of Development for Super Channel. Her expertise and advice to the writers shed light on their approach to pitching and gave them a better understanding of the industry and how to attract the right kind of attention to their projects.

The participants this year were: Danielle H├ębert, Randy Pelletier, Dawn Morgan, and Bunthiny Nou (NB) Hank White, Joe Leclair, Ann Verrall, Mary Hamblin, Rachel Bower, Sarah Gignac, Tara Reddick, Stephanie Sodero (NS); Marlene Campbell, Jason Rogerson, Molly Youngerman, Margaret Martinello-Magner, Steve Mayoff (PEI); and Joel Hynes (NL).

Thanks to all the funders who support this very important professional development activity: Telefilm Canada, Innovation PEI, Island Media Arts Coop, Super Channel, Astral Media, Bell Fund, and Independent Production Fund, and the City of Charlottetown.

Preparations for year seven are already in progress as we strive to make every year more spectacular than the last.
