There are several programs with which P.E.I. filmmakers can find funding for their projects.
Film4Ward Program – An incubator program offering film production and skill capacity training for both emerging and mid-career filmmakers. Funds are provided to filmmakers in this program. Administered by FilmPEI.
PEI Film Production Fund – This program supports qualifying P.E.I. productions with an all-spend rebate of up to 35% of eligible Prince Edward Island expenditures. Administered by Innovation PEI.
FilmPEI In-kind Production Assistance Program – The FilmPEI In-kind Production Assistance program is open to all FilmPEI Full Members in good standing. At this time FilmPEI grants only include in-kind equipment, digital system and/or space rental. (There is no funding portion to this grant). The RED Helium is not be available for this program. Administered by FilmPEI.
Telefilm’s Talent to Watch Program – This program awards emerging filmmakers with grants of up to $250,000 for fiction feature films and $150,000 for documentaries. FilmPEI is a Designated Industry Partner in the Talent to Watch program and takes in the first round of applications. The projects go through a jury process and those chosen receive a letter of recommendation from FilmPEI to move on to the Telefilm’s Talent to Watch jury process. Administered by Telefilm Canada.
