Laura Florian was born and raised on Prince Edward Island. She attended NSCAD University & attained a BFA & Film Major. As an enthusiastic artist, Laura continues to utilize her skills whether it is in editing, facilitating eastern philosophy, film, singing or sound recording, mixing & design. Laura is also currently on the IMAC Board of Directors.  

In March 2012, Laura and her husband Adam Florian founded Floski Productions. Their work focuses on documentaries and artistic films. Laura is currently sound recording, mixing & designing the Red Rock Wrestling TV show with Local Island Wrestling Entertainment called “Red Rock Rewind” now airing on Bell Aliant TV1.

Floski Productions started filming Red Rock Wrestling (RRW) shows at the Stratford Town Hall back in 2013 when they decided to do a short film meditating on professional wrestling and local promoter/wrestler 'Kowboy' Mike Hughes. As a whole, the film aims to deliver an intimate look into the misunderstood art-form known as Professional Wrestling. They expanded that project with their love & respect of wrestling entertainment and continued to film all of RRW’s live shows. Through Floski Production’s collaboration with the dedication & aspirations of Mike Hughes & his wife Sheri Atkinson, they were able to get a broadcast contract. The shows air bi-weekly but can be also seen online on TV1. A Small Fortune
An out-of-work fisherman tries to provide for his pregnant girlfriend in a quaint fishing village along the coastline of Prince Edward Island. Their hard luck changes when they discover $25,000 cash in a bag on the beach. The think the money is a blessing before the bloated body of a stranger washes up shortly thereafter, ruining their plans.

March 3 to 6 ---- Women Making Waves conference "The Women Making Waves (WMW) conference is a product of Women in Film and Television Atlantic. WMW consists of three days of events, screenings, panels, and workshops tailored to industry experts as well as young creatives and interested students. This is a great opportunity to meet and learn from professionals in the industry, to listen to informative talks, to participate in workshops and to recognize the outstanding work being done by the women in these fields. WMW is about celebrating women in the industry but by no means is it strictly for women. So please, join us in 2016 for our sixth year running!"

April 4 ---- PEI Screenwriters' Bootcamp writing and producing mentorships

The Island Media Arts Coop (IMAC) is looking for creative writers who want to develop skills in writing for the screen-based entertainment industry. The focus on this year’s PEI Screenwriters’ Bootcamp will be on writing web series and features. Participants will be offered five days of intensive project-based training and an opportunity to experience first-hand the behind-the-scenes exchanges that take place in the industry. Among the mentors will be Cynthia Whitcomb, author of Writing,  Sharon Buckingham, script editor and author of several Canadian productions, Tom Shoebridge, a nine-year veteran of Bootcamp, Hannah Cheesman and Mackenzie Donaldson, co-creators of the hit web series, Whatever, Linda.


Organizers are also excited to be offering a session on pitching and on marketing. More information is available on both the IMAC and PEI Screenwriters' Bootcamp websites.

Ms. Louise Lalonde, Project Coordinator, said: “This is our tenth year offering this training, and we have a long list of success stories. I encourage anyone interested in the media industry to apply. There are no workshop fees and participants are selected based on the appeal of their idea and writing abilities. For those interested in producing, we are celebrating women this year and are offering five seats to women who want to break into the industry as producers. This is all part of our ten-year anniversary celebration. Any woman interested in investigating producing as a career move should get in touch with me.”
